When someone dies, their estate usually needs to go through probate before assets can be distributed. It can feel overwhelming, especially when you're grieving. What is probate?
Probate (or Grant of Probate) is the legal document required to cash in and/or transfer your loved one's assets. It is not always required — it depends on the type of asset and the value of that asset. Most estates with property or significant assets will need a Grant of Probate. We can handle the whole process for you.

Not always, but it's advisable for most estates — especially if there's property, inheritance tax, or any family complexities. We can save you time, stress, and potential mistakes.
How long does probate take?
A straightforward estate typically takes 6-12 months. More complex cases can take longer, but we'll give you a realistic timeline from the start.
What does probate cost?
We offer fixed fees to prepare and submit probate applications: from £500 (no inheritance tax account, no foreign assets), £1,000 (inheritance tax account required, no foreign assets), or £1,500 (inheritance tax account required and foreign assets). Estate administration is charged on a time-spent basis at Steph Rodgers' hourly rate of £200, with an estimate provided in the initial meeting. No VAT is chargeable.
